Matt Ebright, longtime accompanist to the Columbus Swiss Singers, also became its director in January 2016, following the retirement of longtime director John Long.
Known for his musical talents covering a wide variety of styles from Bach to rock , Matthew Ebright has entertained crowds throughout North America and Europe as a solo pianist, singer, keyboardist, and accompanist. His multigenre versatility has allowed him to perform with such artists as jazz pianist David Benoit and classical singer Andrea Bocelli.
He has also worked as a featured pianist/singer/guest artist collaborator for Princess Cruises and served as music director for the State Thespian Conference of Ohio’s production of Spring Awakening. Past musical directing/theater credits include numerous musicals and the Columbus Equity production of Side By Side by Sondheim, choreographed by Tony-award winner Randy Skinner.
Ebright received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from The Ohio State University where he was awarded one of ten Presidential Scholarships. During his time at OSU, he served as accompanist/assistant director of the Men’s Glee Club and lead the premiere a cappella ensemble, The Statesmen.
He currently works as the primary accompanist for the choral programs at Bexley High School, Dublin Coffman High School, Rosemore Middle School, and Columbus School for Girls. In addition, he teaches at Sounds Educational Center in Westerville, Ohio. Ebright also remains active as a jazz/rock pianist, cabaret singer, classical accompanist, vocal coach, session musician, and arranger.
